With a bustling one way street cutting through the main downtown area along which the majority of the city's shops, banks and a large 24-hr fruit and vegetable market, downtown Port Vila can seem unusually chaotic. The adjacent harbour front has a local craft market, cafes and watefront restaurants with lovely views across the yacht filled harbour towards Iririki Island. Other attractions include a small Museum and Iririki Island a two minute boat ride from the downtown harbourfront.

The more intimate Erakor Island Resort is the only place with a small beach and snorkelling lagoon, or other beach options include several small boutique resorts on the Peninsula, ten minutes drive south of downtown Port Vila where there's excellent snorkelling.
